The First Ten Commandments:

By Nicole

1.) You must have a respectable job. Do not confuse this with ‘you must be making six figures’. But really, if you’re unemployed you should stop reading this now—you have bigger fish to fry.
2.) I’m not a big fan of talking on the phone- but if you’re asking a girl out on a date a phone call goes a long way. Text messaging and Facebook have really killed the ‘getting-to-know-you’ process.
3.) And to clarify; a date consists of going out to dinner, drinks, the movies, or some kind of one on one activity. It does NOT mean meeting up with you and twenty of your closest guy friends at a bar.

4.) Nothing is more attractive than a guy who is both motivated and passionate about what they do. This can be something work/school related, or even just a hobby. It shows us that when you want something you’ll work for it. And that’s sexy.

5.) Be nice to our friends, but do not try to sleep with them.

6.) Let us know your intentions early on. If you’re looking for a relationship, say so. If you just want a hook-up, say so. The guessing game leaves us confused, and we lose patience.

7.) You can tell a lot about a guy from the way he refers to his ex. If you mention her excessively, or in a negative manner it suggests that you’re not quite over her or ready to move on. But if you can bring her up in a casual, yet positive way it tells us that you’re comfortable with the situation and we will respect (and appreciate) the fact that you respect her.

8.) We don’t expect you to pick up the tab all the time, but the guy should always pay on the first date. However,a girl should always offer (and do the ‘wallet reach’ though she has no intention of actually paying). Not doing so is an indication that she may be selfish, or overly expectant.

9.) A little compliment every now and then does not go unnoticed.

10.) We all want someone who just ‘gets us’. Someone whose overall weirdness and sense of humor compliments our own (there are so many different types). You know, someone we can break into song in front of without being embarrassed, despite the fact that we are completely tone deaf, etc.

...more commandments coming soon, feel free to leave comments and suggestions

I am in complete agreement with number eight. If you are a real man though you should pick up the bill the majority of the time. However to reiterate your point , we really do notice if a girl at least does the wallet reach. Nothing irks me more than a girl who conducts herself with a certain sense of entitlement. The money isn't even the issue . It is just the right thing to do.
